"GalaxyNo, that’s not a new Galaxy Tab you’re looking at; well, not exactly. It’s the upcoming Galaxy Note, a new sorta-tablet, sorta-smartphone device that’s just been announced as heading to AT&T in 2012.

The Samsung Galaxy Note has a huge 5.3-inch Super AMOLED display that’s HD, with a resolution of 1280×800. It’s a little over 3-inches wide and a whopping 5.8-inches tall, but it’s quite thin: 0.39-inches.

Inside is a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, presumably the Snapdragon S3, LTE support for AT&T “4G” mobile data, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in flash storage. You can also add 32GB of additional storage via microSDHC or perhaps even 64GB with a microSDXC card. There’s also an 8MP camera.

No word yet on pricing or a release date, but expect to the the Galaxy Note hit AT&T sometime this quarter. Sadly, it appears the tab-phone will ship with Android 2.3 rather than Android 4, though an OS update is almost surely in the cards.
