Intel Displays Light Peak Optical CableTechnology

At IDF 209 this today Intel demonstrated a high-speed optical cable technology available next year that will connect mainstream electronic devices like laptops, HD displays, televisions, cameras, video players, iPods, docking stations and Solid State Drives (SSDs) to each other using optical fiber, rather than copper wires.

Developed by Intel and codenamed Light Peak, this proposed technology paves the way for a new generation of extreme computer input and output (I/O) performance, delivering 10Gb/s of bandwidth, with the potential ability to scale to 100Gbs over the next decade. At 10Gb/s, a user could transfer a full-length Blu-Ray* movie in less than 30 seconds. The company intends to work with the industry to determine the best way to make this new technology a standard.

Best Windows Mobile Twitter Client: moTweets

motweets240x320_3

Twitter is one of the most popular social networking services around, and over the last year it’s worked its way into many aspects of our lives.  For some time, however, the Twitter app selection for Windows Mobile devices was practically nonexistent.

But in the past several months, a handful of Windows Mobile Twitter apps have been released, and we hope to see their number continue to grow.

Our favorite Twitter client for Windows Mobile at the moment is moTweets.  There are several reasons for this, but the main reason we love moTweets is that it has an attractive Twitter-esque UI, just about every option a user could hope for and generally solid performance on touchscreen Windows Mobile smartphones.

If you can’t stop tweeting, Twittering, or whatever you choose to call using Twitter too much, grab a copy of moTweets from Handango and try it for yourself.
