You know how we’re rather enamored with anything to do with Solid State Disk technology around here these days. There are so many new, ground-breaking concepts coming to market lately, that we almost don’t know where or what to dial our radar on next. One product that has definitely set off a few pings on our SSD-watch screens is OCZ’s upcoming Z-Drive PCI-Express-based SSD. Early incarnations of the product looked a little, how shall we say, “proto-ish” but today the Z-Drive has re-appeared

HTC Touch2 Windows Phone Announced
HTC has just announced its upcoming Touch2 Windows Phone, not to be confused with the Touch Pro2 or Touch Diamond2. The HTC Touch2 (aka HTC Mega) will debut running Windows Mobile 6.5 in early October. No word yet on country-by-country availability, though we expect to see this handset in the U.S. before the end of the year.
The press release spent much of its time extolling the virtues of Windows Mobile 6.5 rather than providing device specifications, but we know a good bit about the Touch2 already, and will keep you apprised as more details are made available.
XPERIA X2 Announced, Coming Q4 2009 with Windows Mobile 6.5
Today Sony Ericsson announced its first Windows Mobile 6.5 Windows Phone, the XPERIA X2. The X2 is the second Windows Mobile-powered smartphone from Sony Ericsson, and is expected to ship at the end of the year in “selected markets.”
The XPERIA X2a is actually of most interest in the U.S., as this is the version of the smartphone compatible with networks used in the States. Features include a 3.2” 800×480 touchscreen, an 8.1MP camera, the Panels UI overlay, and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
The press release didn’t say anything about U.S. availability, which is sort of a bummer, but you can bet your Walkman that it’ll arrive here sooner or later.

Aino: PS3 Remote Play, But Not a PSP Phone
More details have arisen about the Sony Ericsson Aino cell phone that will have some PS3 integration embedded in it. It’s not the “PSP phone” that people keep talking about and hoping for, and to be honest, it seems to lack a lot of what people might have been hoping for. In a Q&A with the Euro PS blog, Sony Ericsson’s Lisa Canning dished on some highlights, and lowlights. No surprise, no UMD support. Did we ever expect it? Also, while you will be able to use Remote Play to connect and control the PS3’s

Now there’s one less reason to turn off the TV – you can access the Internet through your Wii, for free (again). Those who got the Wii when it first launched in November 2006 will remember the Internet Channel came as a free download at the time. With the growing popularity of inexpensive netbooks and nettop PCs, the Linux operating system (often installed on the lowest-priced budget units) is reaching a wider audience–although nowhere close to giving Windows or the Mac OS a run for their money (albeit the Mac OS is based on Linux). Some pundits even argue that the Linux OS has finally matured enough to the point where everyday computer users can use it with little trouble. This might be arguable, but the often free or inexpensive nature of the different
