Sprint, Verizon to Launch Touch Pro 2 with Windows Mobile 6.1, WM6.5 to Follow
The fact that Sprint and Verizon will launch their respective versions of the HTC Touch Pro2 with Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional isn’t exactly hot news; but according to WMExperts, each company’s model already has a test version of Windows Mobile 6.5 ROMs under review, which – to us – was an interesting tidbit.
HTC has touted the Windows Mobile 6.5 readiness of the Touch Pro2 and Touch Diamond2 since the two handsets were first announced earlier this year, but if the WMExperts story is true the OS upgrade is a certainty, not just an exercise in technical software compatibility. This is of import to many users who don’t wish to invest in a device today that won’t be issued an upgrade to the upcoming Microsoft mobile OS when it’s released later this year.
No word on availability of the upgrades at this time, or whether the companies will charge for them.

ASUS plans to launch e-book reader under Eee family
Asustek Computer plans to launch an e-book reader under its Eee brand by the end of 2009 at the earliest, according to company president Jerry Shen. The sources pointed out that the requirements for entering the e-book reader market are even lower than for netbooks, but the key to success lies in establishing a content delivery platform.
Currently, demand for e-book readers is mainly concentrated in North America and Europe, with penetration in Asia markets low due to differences in reading habits, the sources noted. The sources said they are conservative about the business potential e-book readers can bring to Taiwan's PC vendors and content publishers. Meanwhile, Micro-Star International (MSI) is also evaluating the e-book reader market, according to industry sources.
Illegal Downloaders May Face Internet Cut-off in the U.K.
The U.K. has joined France in trying to crack down on illegal downloading by instituting a policy whereby consumers found to repeatedly illegally download copyrighted material would have their Internet access suspended. This has commonly been called a “three strikes” policy, as usually the proposal is to give the offender three chances before suspending their access. Earlier, the U.K. had planned to restrict broadband speed, not total access. While that provision remains under the new proposal, it has been joined

Super Talent Develops Green DDR3 Memory
Super Talent Technology announced late last night that they have developed a new line of green DDR3 modules that use 38% less PCB material and 47% less packaging material than the company's standard DDR3 DIMMs. The memory modules use less of everything and since they use one-third less copper they might even cost less for consumers. No mention of pricing was in the press release though, so we can only hope that Super Talent passes this savings along to the consumer. The picture below is of the new very low profile DDR3 unbuffered module sitting next to a regular sized DDR3 unbuffered memory module.

“Our goal with these green DDR3 DIMMs is to offer a greener memory choice for regular desktops that uses less raw materials, produces less industrial waste and consumes less fuel to transport with absolutely no tradeoffs in functionality or price”, explained Super Talent Director of Marketing, Joe James. “When multiplied by the hundreds of thousands of memory modules we produce monthly, this can have an enormous environmental impact.” Super Talent's first green 1066 and 1333 MHz 1GB and 2GB DIMMs will begin shipping in September.

Boasting a 3G radio, GPS, document editing and a 3.2MP camera, this phone is certainly looking like a solid rival to the aforesaid Pre and Apple’s iPhone. RIM claims that web browsing is faster
Wikipedia Could Add Checkpoint Layer To Curb Bogus Information Posting
Wikipedia. What would you ever do without it? It really makes you wonder how difficult homework is these days given that nearly every subject on the planet is covered in one form or another on the know-it-all website. Of course, that “easy homework” is really only easy if the information that one finds is accurate, and that’s why the site’s founders are cracking down on misinformation in hopes of making the pages we frequent so often more trustworthy. In an effort to curb the rampant posting of bad information,
