This 2GB ECC registered module is only 0.72-inches tall, nearly half an inch shorter than standard height DDR3 modules. “We made this product for high density servers and embedded computers where space inside the chassis is severely constrained”, explained Super Talent Director of Marketing, Joe James. VLP modules also make sense in 1U servers since their small stature improves airflow inside the chassis.

Could Intel’s Atom end up the last chip standing?

When we’ve discussed Atom and Intel’s long-term plans regarding MIDs and handheld devices, we’ve typically focused on the consumer experience. Intel has made no secret that it envisions a future in which next-generation Atom processors and SoCs power a diverse range of products in both consumer and business markets. What we haven’t discussed, save for an occasional nod towards the competition Intel might face from ARM, is the impact Intel’s push into the embedded market might have on the integrated device manufacturers

Micron set to ramp 40nm production at end of 2009

Micron Technology is scheduled to kick off volume production using 40nm process technology at its 12-inch wafer fab in Singapore at the end of 2009, according to the company. The US-based memory maker said producing on 40nm coupled with its 6F2 technology will make 40nm the company's major process technology in 2011, prior to moving to a 4F2 cell design in 2012.

Micron will be able to lower its overall production cost by 50% by moving to 50nm and by another 30% by moving to 40nm, the company said. Its monthly investment per 1,000 wafers can also be reduced from US$12 million for 50nm to US$4 million for 40nm with 6F2, and further to US$2 million for 40nm with 4F2, according to Micron.

The HTC Leo Windows (Super)Phone

The HTC Leo?

Rumors concerning the HTC Leo have been floating around for a while, and now thanks to the ai.rs blog, we we may just have our first glimpse of the upcoming Windows Phone.

The HTC Leo, according to the same blog, will be powered by a Qualcomm MSM8250 1GHz Snapdragon CPU and Windows Mobile 6.5, have a 5MP digital camera, a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a standard 3.5mm audio jack, a microSDHC flash memory card slot, 512MB of flash storage and GPS.

This image looks to be a rendering rather than an actual product photo, but HTC often releases its first product images in this way.  Of course, without official confirmation, this image and all of the details surrounding the Leo should be treated as rumor.

The ai.rs blog suggests this model will be released somewhere in the world by October; perhaps, but we figure such a device won’t make an appearance until (at least) early 2010 – hope we’re wrong.

XFX Radeon HD 465X-YAF2 Video Card Review @ motherboards.org and other reviews from around the web can be found by visiting our forums!

From a pure performance point of view the XFX HD465X-YAF2 Radeon HD 4650 512MB video card is not going to win awards as the card is based upon the mainstream version of the RV7xx series. From the perspective of someone wanting an easy, quiet and power efficient upgrade to an Intel integrated graphics chip, the HD 4650 provides a good inexpensive upgrade path for those users. After all, not everyone can afford to spend $200 on a video card. The XFX card is short in length meaning it can fit into some cases that the larger video cards cannot. XFX has a decent product here for the mainstream gamer wanting decent performance for around $50.

Gmail Moves to #3 Among Email Services

As we move more and more toward “all things Google,” it might surprise people to learn that Google’s Gmail was, until recently, mired in 4th place among email vendors. That’s where it was until new comScore estimates for July 2009. Yes, despite the way Gmail and Google Docs, and Google Reader, and the rest all work together, it’s only now that Gmail edged past AOL Mail, with 37 million unique visitors compared to only 36.4 million for AOL. Who’s number two? That’s Windows Live Hotmail, with 47 million unique

Asus G51VX-RX05 Gaming Notebook Review

But with netbooks, problems surface when users want to do more than just the basic tasks. While no
