And comically enough, we think we agree.Let’s face it — educated overclocking is exhilarating, and oftentimes the performance increases push your enjoyment factor from “so-so” to “ooh yeah!” The device, which is aptly named the OC Genie,

Amazon to Replace Cracked Kindles

People usually buy cases to protect their technology. In this case, the $30 case Amazon.com has been selling as a Kindle 2 accessory has apparently been causing cracks in the Kindle where the case clips to it, that eventually cracks the screen. Not good, and also not good that it took a lawsuit to prompt Amazon.com to offer replacements without a $200 charge.Previously, Amazon.com had asked users to pay $200, because the problem wasn’t covered under Amazon’s limited warranty. That led to a $5 million class action

AMD TWKR Processors Hit eBay – Some For Charity Others For Greed

AMD created a small number of limited edition TWKR processors expressly for the extreme overclocking community in appreciation for their record performance feats with Dragon platform technology and AMD Phenom II processors. These processors are designed to reach the utmost performance barriers of the AMD Phenom II processor and operate beyond the specifications of typical production level processors. As speculated, its a high current chip that can take the extreme stresses of Liquid Nitrogen overclocking. Our testing of the TWKR procesor showed that we could reach ~6.6GHz on Liquid Nitrogen. It would be a shame if only the top overclockers and media would be able to use these, so AMD a number of them away in contests around the internet. Its seems three TWKR processors are on eBay right now. Only one appears to be for charity though as the other two listings are not eBay Giving Works charitable listings, which is a red flag even though one says the money is going for an organization.

AMD TWKR Processor Contest

You are bidding on a brand new, limited edition AMD Phenom II TWKR Black Edition processor, with ALL proceeds benefiting Family Eldercare, a non-profit organization in Austin, Texas (http://www.familyeldercare.org/) who provide essential services for elders, adults with disabilities and those who care for them. Ready your cooling skills, and help Family Eldercare cool the less fortunate with fans and air conditioners raised during its Summer Fan Drive. Heres your chance to become an elite overclocker and take the Phenom II to record breaking heights.

PC outlook improves in 2Q09 as consumer spending stabilizes shipments, says IDC

Global PC shipments again came in slightly ahead of expectations in the second quarter of 2009, lessening fears over the extent of the PC market slump. Worldwide PC shipments (including desktop and portable PCs, but excluding x86 servers) were down 3.1% from the second quarter of 2008 a notable improvement over an expected decline of 6.3%, according to IDC.

All regions either met or surpassed expectations. Although the global downturn is still making its effects felt in the PC industry, the slump has been mitigated by a PC market which has seen the computing experience evolve to be more personal, portable, and cost-oriented rather than performance-driven, according to IDC. Portable PCs continue to be the primary driver of volume and growth with all regions seeing strong portable shipments.

GIGABYTE GA-P55-UD6 Motherboard Preview @ TweakTown and other reviews from around the web can be found by visiting our forums!

“Back at Computex in June of this year GIGABYTE showed us some of their P55 boards. These new boards will support the new Lynnfield, or as it has been rumoured to be called, Core i5 CPUs from Intel. While Lynnfield is not due for launch until sometime in September, we had the chance to spend some quality time with one of GIGABYTEs high-end P55 offerings, the GA-P55-UD6.

While these boards will not be 100% ready for some time, especially after the announcement that the Marvell 88SE9123 SATA 6G controller chips will not be on the final production runs, it was still good to get a feel for how these boards will look and feel.”
