$50 HTC Ozone Coming to Verizon Wireless June 29

Verizon Wireless HTC Ozone Smartphone

We told you in April that Engadget had gotten wind of an HTC Snap variant heading to Verizon Wireless.  As is so often the case, the tech news site was pretty spot on, and today Verizon made it official.  Meet the HTC Ozone XV6175.

With a somewhat different look than its Sprint Snap and T-Mobile Dash 3G siblings, the HTC Ozone skips the trackball system navigation system in favor of a more traditional 5-way directional pad.  The QWERTY keyboard is also a bit different, but in most other ways, the Ozone is a Snap through and through.

Features include Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard (non-touchscreen), a 528MHz CPU, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, aGPS, 2MP camera, and microSDHC slot.  Although the Ozone is a CDMA phone, it also has a SIM card slot for use outside the U.S. on GSM/GPRS networks.

The HTC Ozone will be available from the Verizon Wireless online store beginning June 29, with in-store availability to follow in mid-July.  The price, with a two-year service agreement and $70 mail-in rebate will be $49.  Not bad.

June 25 News from Around the Web

In-Win X-Fighter AL-13 Series Case Review @ motherboards.org and other reviews from around the web can be found by visiting our forums!

In Win set out to design a unique solution on their X-fighter case and it shows in the design and features of the case. The X-Fighter looks sort of like a spaceship but does not look like the ships we come to expect from the Star Wars universe like the X-Wing and TIE fighters. In terms of cooling the case has adequate cooling with a front fan, a rear fan, and a GPU cooling solution. The X-Fighter is available online for under $100 USD and sports high end features like the I/O area having e-SATA, Firewire, four USB.20 port. The inclusion of anti-shock drive rails is another high-end selling point of this case. Overall this case has potential for the end user, especially if you are looking for something a bit out of the ordinary.

The Lenovo IdeaCentre A600 is an all-in-one desktop with plenty of features and bells-and-whistles to keep all but the most jaded of users happy. Perhaps taking a page out of Apple’s book, Lenovo put a lot of effort into the look and feel of the A600, with its black-colored chassis, borderless 21.5-inch 1920×1080 TFT display, curved back, and svelte form factor–measuring only 1-inch thick at its thinnest point. The A600 Series comes in a variety of configurations, which range in price from $679 to $1,399.The

Boxee Finally Hits Windows, Adds MLB.TV And More

Wow, can you believe it? At long last, Boxee is on Windows. It’s sort of strange how one of the world’s most popular applications first arrived on Mac, then Linux and on Windows last, but at least the world’s most popular operating system can now run the program natively. In what we’re considered the company’s most significant announcement to date, Boxee has introduced an Alpha version of Boxee for Windows, and it’s taking feedback as we speak in order to push out a finalized version as soon as possible (“later
