Is Number Portability Coming to Google Voice?

It was great when number portability came to cell phones. It was great when Google Voice (nee GrandCentral), promising one number to ring multiple phones emerged as a service. What if you could port your number to Google Voice, though? That’s what TechCrunch says is coming. While the fact that Google Voice is supposed to be a number you can keep forever, if you could port the cell phone number or some business number you have currently plastered all over your business cards to it, think of how much more useful

We’re not quite certain what all has gotten into LaCie these days, but we like it. Designed to be a stripped-down version of its other LaCinema Media Players, this relatively empty box doesn’t ship with any storage at all. In other words, you’re buying a beautiful enclosure and LaCie’s heralded user interface, but you’ll have to pony up

Barf Bag Heaven

Computer Hunter had a little trouble deciding if this was a site worthy of putting on his site.

But once he saw the Space Shuttle barf bag, he decided it was a science site and an art site together.

The site does not show what is in the bags or how they are used, it just shows the bags and their graphics.

http://www.airsicknessbags.com/

Although the site is called Air Sickness Bags, they also have other barf bags. Bus, Car, Helicopter, Movie and even Political sickness bags are displayed on the site.

We wrote earlier about China’s new censorship moves with regards to PCs, mandating that new PCs there have site-blocking software installed, or at least provided via an included CD. Ironically, though not surprisingly, it turns out that the filtering software, “Green Dam-Youth Escort,” contains pirated code.According to Solid Oak Software, the makers of CyberSitter, one of the more popular Internet-filtering programs, not only does Green Dam look similar to CyberSitter, it uses DLLs identified with CyberSitter,

Asus Aims To Be Better Than Apple

We have no issues with companies setting high goals, but this one’s amongst the tallest of tall orders that we’ve seen. Currently, Apple is atop its game. Never before has the company been so iconic and influential in society, and it’s pretty much a given that Apple’s media players are the ones to beat. Heck, even its smartphone is giving rivals from RIM, HTC and Palm a run for their money. That said, we still feel Asus’ ambitions to “out-Apple Apple” aren’t totally far-fetched. Just a few years ago, Asus was
