The battle for the high ground in the sub-$125 price market continues to be a tough one. When AMD announced the Radeon HD 4830 graphics card back in October 2008 we found it to be a good deal for a card that retails for under $130. Mobile devices have enjoyed 802.11g Wi-Fi connectivity for years, and the technology is widely available on multiple platforms, including Windows Mobile.  But 802.11n, the work-in-progress next generation Wi-Fi connectivity technology, has thus far been absent from pocket-sized devices. 

But that won’t be the case for long, as Broadcom has developed a new combination chip which offers 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and FM receiver/transmitter capabilities. 

Broadcom’s BCM4329 chip is currently in the testing phase and should begin showing up in pockets around the world sometime in mid-to-late 2009, just in time for the finalized 802.11n standard.  802.11n  products, which are currently in the “draft” phase, offer up to 600Mbps data rates.

As is so often true with mobile technology, eBay turns out the be your best bet for scoring one of the most sought-after Bluetooth headsets on the market today, the Aliph New Jawbone, on the cheap. 

The New Jawbone is widely considered to be the best noise-canceling wireless headset sold and there isn’t a techie alive who wouldn’t want one of these babies in their stocking.  As of this posting, the New Jawbone can be found on eBay for as little as $49 new, in box.  That’s about $80 less than MSRP.
