iPhone App Developers Gaming The System

If you are an Apple iPhone or iPod touch owner, you’ve likely noticed that nearly every time you check out the App Store, there are several updates available for applications you’ve downloaded. At first, this makes sense, as the iPhone/iPod touch is still a relatively new platform for developers, which puts them still early on the learning curve–bugs needs to be squashed and new features added. But many users are finding that these “updated apps” neither fix bugs nor add new features. So then what is the purpose

Asus Eee PC 1000H Netbook

It has been almost exactly one year since we saw the Asus Eee line of notebooks hit store shelves and it has been quite a year for this little side project from Asus. The original Asus Eee PC lineup, even with its flaws, turned out to be a massive surprise hit, as Asus hit a price and form factor that the market was finally ready to adopt for an ultra-mobile notebook. The Eee PC, while not truly the first of its kind, cemented the ‘netbook’ product category, which has encouraged potential buyers to accept this

AT&T’s Mirage Actually the Samsung SGH-i788?

A couple of weeks ago, we told you that the Samsung Omnia may be coming to AT&T Mobility as the AT&T Mirage.  New information posted at PhoneArena, however, suggests that Mirage may be the code name for the Samsung SGH-i788, the so-called BlackJack III.  The post goes on to say that the new Samsung may be sold as the i907.  At this point, we’re going with this new information, as it seems more credible, but all information regarding this device should be treated as rumor until we get some hard information.

Samsung’s Omnia is likely still on its way to AT&T, so we’ll keep you posted as new information arises.

TiVo For Your Computer

For the last few years, vendors have been trying to convince us that computers will become our digital media hubs and we’ll extend that experience to our living room TVs. Microsoft’s Windows Media Center and its “ten-foot experience” is perhaps the best-known example of this idea. The recent explosion of readily available online media is starting to at least prove the part about the PC being the media hub true; but transferring the computer interface to the living room TV has proven to be rather stubbornly stagnant.

Latest Vista Ultimate Extras Still Unimpressive

With Windows 7 slated for either late 2009 or early 2008, those of us foolish enough to buy into Microsoft’s hype over Windows Vista Ultimate Extras are probably running out of time in which we might see a really useful Extra come down the pipe. The latest set of underwhelming Extras were released last week, so quietly we sure didn’t notice. Microsoft announced them in a blog post on the official Windows Vista blog. The new release includes: Microsoft Tinker: Microsoft Tinker is a casual game that provides players

Wall Street Woes May Spell Opporunity For Tech

As the old saying goes, one man’s ceiling is another man’s floor.  And in every down market, somehow, somewhere, another sector of the market is flourishing.  Though many folks out there might not be tapping into that early retirement as early as they would like, troubles in the Financial sector spell opportunity for the geeks in Computer Sciences and IT.  Not to mention the fact that the internet is quickly running short of routing resources, so they’ll need

50 Most Significant Moments In Internet History

There’s nothing like a little light reading to help pass the time on a lazy Sunday afternoon. The folks over at Crave have posted an article entitled, “The 50 most significant moments of Internet history”. Unfortunately, they don’t have the days we launched our video channel or when we gave away a fully loaded Skulltrail rig, but we’ll forgive them…”Back in 1995, Time magazine published a cover story called ‘On A Screen Near You’. It highlighted the results of an 18-month Carnegie Mellon University study (with
