{"id":163478,"date":"2012-01-03T13:07:00","date_gmt":"2012-01-03T17:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pocketpccentral.net\/newscenter\/?p=2648"},"modified":"2012-01-03T13:07:00","modified_gmt":"2012-01-03T17:07:00","slug":"2012-android-4-%e2%80%98ice-cream-sandwich%e2%80%99-upgrade-cheat-sheet-updated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/computerhunter.us\/?p=163478","title":{"rendered":"2012 Android 4 \u2018Ice Cream Sandwich\u2019 Upgrade Cheat Sheet [UPDATED]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 12px 10px 5px 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4 Updates for 2012\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4 Updates for 2012\" align=\"left\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pocketpccentral.net\/newscenter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/ics_2012.jpg\" width=\"325\" height=\"237\" \/>The Samsung <a href=\"http:\/\/pocketpccentral.net\/smartphone\/android\/verizon\/galaxy_nexus.htm\">Galaxy Nexus<\/a> is currently the only Android 4 smartphone on the market in the United States, and others are soon to follow, but that\u2019s not the end of the story.&#160; Other late-gen Android devices including tablets and even hybrid notebooks will be getting upgrades to Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), presumably in the next few months.&#160; Here\u2019s what we know so far.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>Samsung:<\/strong><\/u> The Korean company has <a href=\"http:\/\/global.samsungtomorrow.com\/?p=8894\">confirmed that it will upgrade some of its 2011 Galaxy devices to Ice Cream Sandwich<\/a>, the code-name for Android 4.0.&#160; \u201cICS-upgradable devices are the <a href=\"http:\/\/pocketpccentral.net\/smartphone\/android\/galaxy_s2_models.htm\">GALAXY S II<\/a>, GALAXY S II LTE, GALAXY Note, GALAXY R, GALAXY Tab 10.1, GALAXY Tab 8.9, GALAXY Tab 7.7, and GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus.\u201d&#160; No timeframe was given other than that plans included some ICS releases in Q1 2012 with others to follow later in the year.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-2648\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Motorola:<\/u><\/strong> The recently-released <a href=\"http:\/\/pocketpccentral.net\/smartphone\/android\/verizon\/droid_razr.htm\">Droid RAZR<\/a> has been promised an upgrade to ICS from the jump.&#160; The <a href=\"http:\/\/pocketpccentral.net\/smartphone\/android\/verizon\/droid_bionic.htm\">Droid Bionic<\/a>, also from Verizon Wireless, will get the upgrade, too, along with the Xyboard.&#160; The Motorola XOOM, the first to run Android 3.0, is already seeing Android 4 updates.&#160; Upgrades for other Motorola smartphones and tablets are still up in the air, but we\u2019ll add them here if they\u2019re confirmed.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>HTC:<\/u><\/strong> Here\u2019s the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/notes\/htc-uk\/ice-cream-sandwich-android-40-updates-for-htc-handsets\/300698153293006\">only statement<\/a> we could find from HTC vis-\u00e0-vis ICS: <em>\u201cIce Cream Sandwich is coming in early 2012 to a variety of devices including the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation XL and HTC Sensation XE, as well as the HTC Rezound, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B005SY3YSS\/palmsizepccentra\">HTC Amaze 4G<\/a> through close integration with our carrier partners.\u201d<\/em>&#160; Google has also stated that the GSM versions of the Nexus S, built by HTC, will get ICS by mid-January 2012, but there\u2019s been no word on the Sprint CDMA version.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>LG:<\/u><\/strong> The G2x will receive the update to Android 4, as will \u201cthe Optimus Black, the Optimus 3D and the Optimus LTE.\u201d (<em>Source <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pcmag.com\/article2\/0,2817,2396902,00.asp\">PCMag.com<\/a><\/em>)<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Sony:<\/u><\/strong> The company\u2019s Xperia smartphones <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.sonyericsson.com\/products\/2011\/12\/21\/ice-cream-sandwich-coming-to-2011-xperia%E2%84%A2-smartphones-from-end-marchearly-april-2012\/\">will get ICS upgrades<\/a> beginning in March or April of 2012.&#160; The Xperia Play will get Android 4 sometime in May.
