The new beta isn\u2019t Windows Mobile-ready quite yet, but its arrival only one month after <a href=\"http:\/\/pocketpccentral.net\/rss\/2009\/02\/11\/firefox-mobile-fennec-pre-alpha-now-available\/\" >the pre-alpha<\/a> shows that Mozilla is moving forward at breakneck speeds to update and release their new mobile web solution.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Fennec v1.0b1 (beta 1) is chock-full of improvements, including faster panning, zooming and application start time, support for plug-ins, and the addition of TraceMonkey, a JavaScript engine.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">At present, beta 1 of Fennec is only available for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B000Y4AH3C?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=palmsizepccentra&amp;link_code=as3&amp;camp=211189&amp;creative=373489&amp;creativeASIN=B000Y4AH3C\"  >Nokia N810 Internet Tablet<\/a>, but if you\u2019re anxious to see what you can expect from Firefox Mobile, you can also <a href=\"http:\/\/ftp.mozilla.org\/pub\/mozilla.org\/mobile\/1.0b1\/fennec-1.0b1.en-US.win32.zip\" >download<\/a> a Windows version and take a test drive.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wlWriterEditableSmartContent\" id=\"scid:5737277B-5D6D-4f48-ABFC-DD9C333F4C5D:41bc32cd-f43c-4243-91c2-0acc786ef6a3\" >\n<div><object width=\"500\" height=\"377\"><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=3563474&amp;server=vimeo.com&amp;show_title=1&amp;show_byline=1&amp;show_portrait=0&amp;color=00ADEF&amp;fullscreen=1\" \/><embed src=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=3563474&amp;server=vimeo.com&amp;show_title=1&amp;show_byline=1&amp;show_portrait=0&amp;color=00ADEF&amp;fullscreen=1\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" width=\"500\" height=\"377\"><\/embed><\/object><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p align=\"justify\">There\u2019s no word yet on when we can expect to see a Fennec beta for Windows Mobile, but we\u2019re (of course) hoping that it\u2019s sooner rather than later.&#160; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\nMozilla has just released the first beta of Fennec, a mobile version of the company\u2019s popular Firefox web browser.
