Just as July drew to a close, the one billionth download of what’s likely the web’s most soaring browser in terms of popularity took place. As we detailed in our review of Safari 4, Firefox holds a special place in the hearts of
FCC Investigating App Store Rejection of Google Voice
The FCC has opened an inquiry into the rejection of the official Google Voice app from the App Store, which occurred at the same time that the App Store was “cleansed” of any Google Voice-enabled third-party apps. On Friday, the FCC sent letters to all three parties involved: Google, Apple, and AT&T. While the letters to Apple and AT&T asked for an explanation for the rejection, the letter to Google simply asked questions about Google Voice as well as any prior Google apps accepted by Apple. Except,

‘Windows Mobile’ Name to Remain After All
We were never sold on the notion that Microsoft would dump the name Windows Mobile when referring to the company’s mobile OS.
Brighthand Editor Ed Hardy just posted a story quoting Microsoft group products manager for Windows Mobile Scott D. Rockfeld clarifying the “Windows Mobile / Windows Phone” naming issue:
We introduced the term "Windows Phone" to the industry at Mobile World Congress as a way to make it easy for consumers to identify the set of phones with Windows software and services on them. However, we will still use the term "Windows Mobile" to identify the operating system releases (e.g. – 6.1, 6.5). But ultimately, we want customers to be able to go into a retail store and say, "I want a Windows phone!"
So, Windows Phone will, indeed, be the latest Microsoft term for smartphones powered by their mobile OS, but the name Windows Mobile will remain as the name of its operating system.
