Asus Reportedly Cancels First USB3 Motherboard

Just two weeks ago, we reported how problems with Marvell’s SATA 6GB (88SE9123) had led motherboard manufacturers to delay certain P55-based products. Now, Asus has reportedly pulled its P6X58 Premium motherboard altogether. As originally conceived, said board would have featured both USB3 and SATA 6GB as major selling points; it’s possible Asus killed the board rather than ship a premium-class product with just one differentiating feature.   An Asus spokesperson told The Inquirer that the board was

AMD Phenom II X2 550 and Athlon II X2 250 @ iXBT Labs and other reviews from around the web can be found by visiting our forums!

“Physically, Phenom II X2 core is a quad-core Phenom II die. Rejected quad-core dice are locked down to obtain processors with fewer cores and maximize yield. Athlon II, it turn, has the Regor die with two physical cores and no L3 cache. As a result, this die is only 117.5 mm, while Deneb takes up 258 mm. Asus, Acer Push New Netbooks Into 2010

After nearly a year of meteoric growth and exploding unit sales, the netbook market—or at least netbook OEMs—may finally be pausing to catch its breath. With Intel delaying the launch of its next-generation Atom platform (codenamed Pinetrail) until 2010, neither Asus nor Acer are planning new product introductions for the second half of the year. The pause makes sense given the differences between the current Atom platform and its successor. Pinetrail will sport an SoC (System-on-a-Chip) flavor of Atom (codenamed

Gigabyte GV-N250OC-1GI GeForce GTS 250

A few months back NVIDIA “released” the GeForce GTS 250 priced at just around $150. The reason behind the quotations in the previous statement is that the GTS 250 is not exactly something new. While a lot of NVIDIA’s R&D dollars have gone into their higher-end products such as the GTX 285 and GTX 295, to satisfy their mid-level needs they turned to an old stand-by: rebranding a previously higher-end card. In the case of the GeForce GTS 250, we’re pretty much looking at the same specifications that we saw

Belkin Makes Any Headphones Compatible With iPod Shuffle

As you probably know, Apple’s iPod shuffle created quite a stir when it was introduced with no screen and no buttons. How are you really supposed to control it, after all? Of course, Apple’s innovative (and hampering, in some ways) solution was VoiceOver, a system that enables owners to shout commands and have it respond accordingly.Unfortunately, this svelte workaround presents a problem: you can only use the headphones which Apple ships with the shuffle, as no other headphones have that VoiceOver chip built

Corsair Hydro Series H50 CPU Water Cooling Kit Review

The recently released Corsair Hydro Series H50 CPU water cooling kit is aimed at bringing water cooler to the mainstream computer user. Pioneer Debuts Ultra-Slim DVR-XD09 DVD Writer For Netbooks

It’s a problem faced by far too many netbook buyers these days: what do you do when you need access to an optical disc? The vast majority of 8″, 9″ and 10″ netbooks arrive today without an optical drive to speak of. Just a few years back, it was practically unheard of to see a notebook sans a DVD drive; today, it’s almost a given if the machine is around 13″ or smaller. In order to give those who still spin the platters a chance to beef up their recent netbook purchase, Pioneer is introducing the industry’s
