Apple Nabs 91% Of Premium PC Market

Look, 91% of anything is worthy of praise, but the figure in question here really shouldn’t be all that surprising. According to new research from NPD, nine out of every ten personal computers sold with a price tag of $1000 or more were Apple machines. We know, that sounds crazy, but we’ll explain in a bit why it’s really not terribly shocking. The exact figure is 91%; 91% of the PC market in the $1000+ sector belongs to Apple, leaving just 9% to split between Windows, Linux and…um, Solaris or something. Back

Sony Introduces 400-Disc Blu-ray MegaChangers

With Blu-ray sales on the rise, there’s hardly been a better time than now for Sony to introduce its most spacious BD changer yet. The BDP-CX7000ES MegaChanger holds more Blu-ray Discs than have even been made to date: 400. Of course, the slots not filled by Blu-ray Discs can handle DVDs and CDs just fine, but unless you’ve got tons of time to spend on movies, we guess you’ll have a mighty tough time justifying the staggering $1900 price tag. This changer also doubles as a pretty special player, with Full HD

ASUS Eee PC 1004DN Netbook – Intel Atom 280 and GN40 chipset

The first ASUS Eee PC 1004DN netbook reviews are out and it seems this netbook actually has a few features that will make it stand out from the crowd. The ASUS Eee PC 1004DN has optical drive and the new Intel GN40 chipset with X4500M integrated graphics card. That means that the ASUS Eee PC 1004DN that should be faster than the GMA950 that can be found in most netbooks when it comes to at least video oriented benchmarks. The Asus 1004DN makes use of the Super Hybrid Engine which reduces power consumption and extends battery life to over 5.5 hours though, so it still has decent battery life.

ASUS Eee PC 1004DN netbook

What makes ASUS Eee PC 1004DN different is new Intel chipset: GN40. Interestingly, there is not too much information on Intels site about this product. What we know is that it has integrated graphics X4500M and support for HD video reproduction. We can only guess that is it successor of GL40 chipset. Although Windows XP isnt best solution for GN40 and its advanced features, we managed to play HD video successfully on Windows XP SP3 that was preinstalled on our ASUS Eee PC 1004DN. Windows Vista (or Windows 7) is much better solution. Nevertheless we managed to play 720p HD video with ease and 1080p after some tweaking. We always had a sense that problem isnt in Atom CPU because it never reached 100% load during HD video playback.

OCZ Agility SSD

“It has always been our intention to make SSDs more affordable for consumers and we have achieved some greater economies of scale now that we can reduce some prices without making any changes to the product and performance. It isnt all about pricing however, while our goal is to put SSD technology into the reach of everyday consumers we are also accelerating development of cutting edge solutions and have a slew of new products coming down the pipe, and while these may not be as aggressively priced they will still represent an excellent total cost of ownership for our customers.” Commented Alex Mei, CMO of the OCZ technology Group, in regards to the pricing direction.
