The name “Colossus”, it conjures up something, well, huge. Though huge could mean many things. Are we talking something physically huge, huge as in something of monumental proportions that might otherwise change the market landscape or huge as in benchmark shattering kind of huge? As you might agree, huge is relative but it’s safe to say the folks at OCZ hope their Colossus drive is going to be a huge hit in the market. We’ve been lucky enough to score some early shots of Colossus in
Intel Appeals EU’s Antitrust Decision
Last week, we covered the European Commission’s (EC) decision that Intel had abused its market power. One of the findings that lead to the $1.44 billion fine was Intel’s rebate system, which only awarded discounted prices to companies that committed to buying the overwhelming majority of their products from the CPU manufacturer. Intel, for its part, thinks the EC got it all wrong; the company has filed an appeal in the European Court of First Instance. While it’s already made arrangements to pay the fine
Alienware Launches Its First Retail Store
Alright, it’s more of a kiosk and less of a storefront, but Alienware is invading a Micro Center located in Paterson, New Jersey. In honor of the event, the Dell-owned company is hosting a LAN party, giving away a fair amount of free swag, and showcasing their various systems on Saturday, July 25. There’s no word on whether or not its a BYOB event, but Alienware is promising to have plenty of its own machines around for enthusiasts and gamers to oggle. To be honest, this seems an odd move for the boutique computer

Intel 34nm X25-M Gen 2 SSD Performance Review
When Intel released their first generation 50nm SSD product, the market buzzed with appreciation for the product and its overall performance profile. We in fact took you through the ins and outs of Intel’s new MLC-based Solid State Drive product line-up for the consumer market and agreed it was one of the fastest on the market at the time. However, over time, other manufacturers have closed the gap significantly. Perhaps it was the fact that Intel had “skin” in the SSD game or maybe it was just the all-around
Canon Unveils New Hybrid Image Stabilizer
Canon has developed an optical image-stabilization technology for upcoming DSLR lenses that will compensate for both angle camera shake and shift camera shake. The new Hybrid Image Stabilizer (IS) technology will be commercially available in interchangeable SLR camera lenses planned for release before the end of this year. Changes in the camera’s angle while the shutter is open can significantly alter captured images. Shift-based shaking generally occurs when a camera moves parallel to the imagining scene and
Intel pushes back Pine Trail-D platform and Clarkdale CPUs to 1Q10
Intel has decided to push back its Pine Trail-D platform for nettops from October 2009 to the first quarter of 2010, in addition to Pine Trail-M for netbooks, while the company's Clarkdale-based processors are also being pushed back to the first quarter of 2010, according to sources at PC makers. Intel recently set a strategy to push mainstream PCs in the second half of 2009 and will postpone most entry-level products into 2010, the sources noted.
The Pine Trail-D platform combines Intel's dual-core Atom D510 or single-core Atom D410 processor with NM10 chipset. Intel will launch two Core i3 processors clocked at 2.93GHz and 3.06GHz, and priced at US$123 and US143 in thousand-unit tray quantities, respectively, in the first quarter of 2010. The company will also launch a Pentium processor clocked at 2.83GHz and priced at US$87. Intel will also launch three Core i5 processors clocked at 3.2GHz, 3.33GHz and 3.46GHz with prices of US$176, US$196 and US$284, respectively. Intel will launch the Core i5-750 (US$196), Core i7-860 (US$284) and Core i7-870 (US$562) in early September, along with the low-power Core i5-750s (US$259) and Core i7-860s (US$337) processors.

MSI N260GTX-T2D896 OC V3 Review @ OCC and other reviews from around the web can be found by visiting our forums!
“When it comes time to spend your money on an upgrade, many people really want to feel they got their money's worth. With the N260GTX OC V3, MSI has hit a home run when it comes down to price as well as performance. Currently you find this card for 159 bucks online after a $30 rebate. A factory overclocked card with a massive heatpipe cooler that works for well under $200, is a heck of a deal. In fact I saw few reference cards far enough under the $159 mark to really pass up the value that the N260GTX OC V3 presents. As a factory overclocked card, the expectation is that it will out perform the reference versions – no surprises that it does this and does it well. In 34 out of 36 tests it performed better than the reference versions and in two the performance was even. When the card was overclocked even further, it started to play well above its price point. Speaking of overclocking, the N260GTX delivered an increase of 101MHz over the 'standard' 655MHz on the core, 104MHz on the shader clocks and 174MHz on the GDDR3 memory. All in all, pretty decent increases across the board.”
Sam Raimi Logs In To Warcraft
Variety reported late Tuesday night that Sam Raimi has signed to direct the “World of Warcraft” movie. The movie will be titled “Warcraft,” possibly leading to a “Warcraft 2, 3, etc.” if things go well. Based on the popularity of the MMORPG, can there be any doubt that the movie will be a hit, at least in the first weekend? The movie hasn’t exactly been spending to the big screen: Blizzard made a deal with Legendary Pictures for a film adaptation of the game way back in 2006. The film’s producers will include
