Xbox 360 Sales Looking Good, LIVE Services Too

Here lately, it’s been Nintendo bragging about massive sales numbers. This week, however, it’s all about Microsoft. First comes the launch date of Bing, and now we’re told that the firm’s Xbox 360 is selling like hotcakes. In fact, sales of the unit have surpassed 30 million worldwide, which ain’t too shabby for a company that just leaped in the game console realm a few years back.Potentially more amazing is this statistic: there are over 20 million active Xbox LIVE members. With the keyword being active. In

NVIDIA / icon incar Tegra based digital instrument cluster

NVIDIA has been working with auto makers for a long time. They help them in the creation of cars through Quadro GPUs, and now they are helping them change the inside of the car. Icon Incar and NVIDIA have created what may be the worlds first three-dimensional digital instrument cluster. Here is a YouTube video clip of the first non-branded prototype of a digital instrument cluster demo running on NVIDIA automotive SOC using OpenGL ES2. Concept, design and programming by icon incar GmbH.

Well-known computer graphics company NVIDIA and mobile solutions company icon icar have teamed up to develop a 3-D gauge cluster for cars. If the above image and one below are any indication, they should have automakers lining up to get these in future cars.

Dell Cedes Gaming Spotlight to Alienware

As one of the largest computer makers in the world, Dell has offered its own line of gaming machines for years. After Dell purchased Alienware, however, Dell’s XPS gaming line became blurred with its Studio multimedia computer line. Around this time last year, rumors began to circulate that Dell was planning to kill off its XPS line. Dell quickly put those rumors to rest and assured users that its XPS line was an important part of its brand despite the company’s ownership in Alienware. Times have changed, however.

Kingwin XT-1264 Review @ OCC and other reviews from around the web can be found by visiting our forums!

“This heatsink is a little different than most ones that use 120mm fans in the fact that you can see the copper heatpipes on the bottom. It would appear that Kingwin is trying to get it so that the heatpipes come into direct contact with the CPU, which could actually improve heat dissipation since there is no other source of metal between the CPU and heatsink that would require more time for heat transfer. Apart from the heatpipes being copper, the rest of the heatsink is purely aluminum. Additionally, this heatsink only comes packaged with one fan and it would appear that it is not capable of using additional clips to secure another one to it, so one would have to resort to zipties for a push/pull configuration.”

Microsoft’s Bing Decision Engine Live June 3rd

Just what the world needs, right? Another search engine. Before you just pass Microsoft’s efforts up as futile, we should point out that ‘Bing’ does actually look rather promising. Of course, Wolfram Alpha is but a long lost memory in most minds by now, so it remains to be seen how much traction Bing will receive when staring down the almighty Google.Smartly, Microsoft has angled Bing as to not be a direct competitor to Google. Instead, it’s being described as a Decision Engine and consumer brand, which aims
