YouTube Clips Now Can Be Viewed Via Wii or PS3 Consoles

YouTube has created a new online tool that allows users to screen video clips via a Nintendo Wii or Sony PlayStation 3 console. Youtube.com/TV has the ability to search and browse clips, as well as the choice of automatically playing a series of videos from a playlist or search results.

Don't have an Apple TV or a TiVo box, and have been lusting after watching YouTube videos from your couch? If you've got a Nintendo Wii or a Sony PlayStation 3 video game console, the Google property has just released an overhauled version of its living room-friendly console interface that puts it about on par with those two offerings.

By visiting Youtube.com/TV in your Opera or PS3 browser, you get a new layout that lets you browse and search through videos.

Second Android Phone Indefinitely Delayed

The Kogan Agora, which was to be the second Google Android phone released, has been delayed indefinitely. We wrote about the company and the phone earlier; Kogan Technologies is an Australian based, online-only retailer, and it says on its profile page it cuts out all the middle-men so it can offer great deals. Circuit City to shut down all remaining stores

Bankrupt electronics retailer Circuit City Inc. said Friday it has asked for court approval to close its remaining 567 U.S. stores and sell all its merchandise. The company said it has 30,000 employees. Circuit City said the liquidation sale would begin Saturday and run until March 31, pending court approval.

“We are extremely disappointed by this outcome,” James Marcum, acting CEO for Circuit City, said in a statement. “We were unable to reach an agreement with our creditors and lenders to structure a going-concern transaction in the limited timeframe available, and so this is the only possible path for our company.”

$650 million more sought for digital TV transition

Democrats in the House of Representatives proposed $650 million to continue the coupon program for the transition to digital television, according to a summary of the economic stimulus legislation released by Democrats on the House Appropriations Committee on Thursday.

Congress mandated the February 17 switch to digital television, which will affect some 20 million consumers who do not already use the technology. Owners of older television sets receiving over-the-air signals must buy converter boxes, replace their TVs with digital models, or subscribe to satellite or digital cable service. But the government has said it had run out of $40 discount coupons for consumers to help pay for converter boxes needed to keep their sets from going blank, leading to calls for delaying the analog switch-off and for more money in the economic stimulus package for the program.

Intel postpones the launch schedule of Lynnfield CPUs and P55 chipset

Intel has recently decided to postpone its next-generation mainstream CPU Lynnfield along with the P55 chipset to the end of August or the beginning of September this year, and may postpone them to an even later time depending on the market situation, according to sources at motherboard makers.

Both Lynnfield and P55 were originally scheduled to launch by the end of July. The economic decline which has caused motherboard makers to suffer overstocked chipset inventory is the major reason for the pull back, according to the sources. After the P55 launches, Intel plans to phase out non-IGP P45 and P43 chipsets and will transition its 4-series IGP chipsets to the entry-level.

Circuit City Announces Liquidation

After filing for bankruptcy protection in November, Circuit City was hopeful that it would be able to reorganize and reemerge. Now, only a day after the company held an auction that was suppose to be the retailer’s last chance to survive bankruptcy as an intact, though smaller chain, the company announced it has hired four liquidators to sell all remaining merchandise in 567 stores before going out of business for good. While some people will certainly be excited about the potential to pick up electronics, TVs,

Did CNBC Ban “Fake Steve” Over Goldman Rant?

In response to the announcement of a medical leave by Steve Jobs, a group of analysts was assembled to discuss the issue on CNBC. Key among them was Jim Goldman, CNBC’s Silicon Valley Bureau chief, and Dan Lyons, who formerly played the “role” of “Fake Steve (Jobs),” on a satiric blog. The exchange between the two was contentious, and included Lyons asking Goldman to apologize to Gizmodo, whom he mocked when they said Jobs’ health was “rapidly declining.” You can watch the video below; the exchange starts about
