EA to offer ‘Spore’ DRM-free
Starting Monday, Electronics Arts will sell its popular video game Spore free of any digital rights management restrictions. It's part of a slew of titles which EA will offer on Valve's Steam distribution platform.
Prices for the DRM-free versions are said to be on par with what the games would sell for in a box in a retail store. It's a move likely to win EA some points with gamers after the disastrous public response to its DRM policy for Spore. Originally the company locked the game using DRM software called SecuROM to no more than three machines, which it later upped to five.

Neweest App Store Controversy: e-Books
Apple’s App Store has rejected an e-book over what it called “objectionable content” (meaning, the f-word, and some sexual content), citing a clause in the iPhone SDK. This is just another example of what some have called the “nightmarish” App Store approval process. The book, Knife Music, by C|Net Editor David Carnoy, was submitted using an embedded e-reader, which is how the SDK clause came into play. Section 3.3.12 of the iPhone SDK Agreement states: “Applications must not contain any obscene, pornographic,
LG Display’s New Sunlight-Illuminated LCD
The quality of laptop displays seem to get better with each product generation: Brighter screens, richer colors, faster response time, higher contrast ratios, and better viewing angles are just some of the improvements we’ve seen. But not matter how good a traditional laptop display looks, it typically still has at least one Achilles heel: If you are using your laptop outdoors, it is often very difficult to see the display in direct sunlight. Mind you, this is not a problem that many of us have, but for those

Mensa Alarm Clock: Only Geniuses Need Apply
Frankly, we find this to be one of the sillier things we’ve seen in a while, but with some friends in American Mensa we had to write about it. It’s the Mensa Puzzle Alarm clock, and apparently it’s been developed with the assistance of the U.K. Mensa branch. Not a genius? Move along; you’ll never turn it off. Seriously, it’s similar to that old Simon game. You have to remember and enter a sequence of colored lights to shut the darn thing off. However, if you get it wrong or are too slow, it’ll sound the alarm
