Antec Launches Skeleton PC Case

Antec has launched the Skeleton, the first open air enclosure to the consumer market. The Skeleton's open structure design and flexibility bring a high level of cooling, ease-of-use and stylish appearance to any PC. The case will retail for approximately $189.95 and is backed by Antec's Quality 3-Year Warranty. We first spotted this case a couple months back at NVISION 08 and posted pictures of it here.

Customizable and offering unprecedented levels of cooling, the Skeleton features an open frame and a top mounted, three-speed, 250mm TriCool multi-color LED fan, allowing users to adjust fan speed, as well as case illumination. Specially designed layered trays allow for efficient cable routing that prevents wires from impeding airflow and an additional dedicated 92mm fan cools the hard drives. With a 0.8mm cold rolled steel-reinforced plastic frame and rackmount quality side rails, this enclosure emphasizes durability. The 13''(H) x 14.8''(W) x 16.5''(D) sized enclosure fits Mini ITX, MicroATX and Standard ATX motherboards.

Asustek to add motherboards to Eee family

In addition to the Eee PC and Eee Box, and previously announced all-in-one PC, Eee Top (previously known as Eee Monitor) and Eee TV, Asustek is also planning to add a motherboard line under the Eee family during first-quarter 2009, according to industry sources. The Eee Top will come in two versions, 16-inch and 19-inch, with pricing staring from US$450, noted the sources.

In additional news, Asustek has responded to recent reports of Eee Box systems shipping infected with a virus. The company said preliminary findings of its internal investigation suggest that the virus probably got on to the systems via a USB drive used for system testing and inspection. The initial virus infected program is only launched on models for the Japan market, the company claimed, adding that the investigation is ongoing.
